Traditionally, it refers to a leader, chief, or headman — someone with authority in a community or group. In a modern, casual sense, South Africans sometimes use Induna playfully to mean:

• “Boss”

• “Person in charge”

• “Respected one”

It carries a sense of respect and leadership, so using it on a card would give a vibe of honouring someone as the leader of the pack.
